Price of sod and a good quality drought sod for CA?

I have made the decision to remove my lawn and have new sod put in its place. We removed the grass and some of the top soil in the entire yard. I was wondering the going rate of " do it yourself sod". I don't want to pay some one for something I can do with my friends. I live in CA so some drought grass would be idle, Anyone know of a good hearty grass and the price square foot. I was quoted 97 cents a sq ft and I thought that was too high. I mighe be wrong but I though I would check it out and see. I will take any advise positive or negative for anyone THANK YOU"
